Following last night's heartbreaking Oilers loss, former NHLer Mike Commodore took to the airwaves to torch Oilers star defenseman Darnell Nurse.
Veteran NHL defenseman Mike Commodore took a shot at Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse following the team's 4-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 3.
'Folks, the Oilers are in a great spot no doubt about it, but Darnell is gonna Darnell, his nickname should be Zamboni.'
Nurse had trouble in the defensive end, ending the night with a -3 rating. He logged nearly 25 minutes of ice time and had just one shot on goal.
The turning point came late in the game when Reilly Smith scored the goal while Nurse was out of position, skating across the ice. The goal kept Vegas from falling into a 3-0 series deficit.
Commodore vented on social media after the game, expressing his displeasure and aimed at Nurse. In a follow-up tweet, he described Nurse's game as 'terrible.'
'For the life of me..I am trying to like Darnell but he's terrible. Watch him at bare minimum he's constantly on 1 knee or legit laid out flat cleaning the ice full body right out of the play. He's terrible.'
Nurse is in the third season of an eight-year, $74 million contract he inked in August 2021. He has two goals and one assist in nine playoff contests, and 20 hits, 23 blocks, and 23 shots. A physical body, he logs heavy minutes on the Oilers' top four.
While Nurse has had some solid playoff games, his Game 3 performance stoked the fire of criticism. The Oilers hold a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 on Monday, once again in Edmonton.
