Every fantasy hockey champion needs an edge, and it often comes from unearthing late-round gems. These are the players flying under the radar: undervalued veterans, breakout candidates, and prospects poised to deliver more than their current ADP (Average Draft Position) suggests. All of the DailyFaceoff Fantasy analysts have highlighted their favourite names that might not be at the top of your league’s draft board but could pay off in a big way. By identifying the players who are being overlooked, you can stock your roster with hidden value and gain the kind of advantage that wins trophies.

Seth Jones | Florida Panthers | D | ADP: 103.0

It has been several seasons since Jones has been a high-valued fantasy commodity, but he could become just that in the 2025-26 season. Fresh off a Stanley Cup Championship with his new team–his first exposure to the playoffs in six seasons–Jones led the Panthers in icetime and should continue to triumph as the team’s number-one defenseman. The 30-year-old Jones doesn’t have the offensive prowess to compete with the likes of Cale Makar or Quinn Hughes, but he can be a productive tier-two fantasy defenseman. He has topped 50 points, 100 hits, and 180 shots several times in his career; all totals that should be within reach this season. Assuming the Panthers continue to roll with Jones as their powerplay quarterback, look for him to flirt with 20 powerplay points as well. Take advantage of Jones’ high ADP; he could end the season as a top-25 fantasy defenseman.

Zach Hyman | Edmonton Oilers | LW,RW | ADP: 104.5

After scoring 160 points (90G / 70A) in 159 games across two seasons, Hyman will look to return to near point-per-game totals after a forgettable 2024-25 season. Hyman’s 54-goal season in 2023-24 was likely an anomaly, but the same may be true for his 44-point campaign in 2024-25. Playing predominantly alongside Connor McDavid and occupying a role on one of the league’s premier powerplay units, it’s hard to believe Hyman averaged only 0.60 points-per-game, his lowest output since the 2018-19 season. The 33-year-old Hyman had only eight points in his first 20 games last season before returning to a more recognizable form with 36 points in his next 46, a 0.78 point-per-game pace. Drafted around the eighth round, Hyman has massive upside, and it would be shocking if he didn’t, at the very least, return to the 60-point plateau.

Will Cuylle | New York Rangers | LW,RW | ADP: 158.0

Over the past few seasons, players like Vincent Trochek, Tom Wilson, and Timo Meier became fantasy hockey darlings in banger leagues for their rare blend of points and hits. It’s time to add Will Cuylle to that prestigious list. The 23-year-old Cuylle had an outstanding 2024-25 season, posting 45 points (20G / 25A) and 301 hits in 82 games. He was the league’s only player with over 40 points and more than 250 hits, a category of his own. While Cuylle likely won’t see much powerplay time this season, it shouldn’t affect his production—42 of his 45 points last year came at even strength. Poised to improve on his totals, take advantage of Cuylle’s favourable ADP; he’s on route to must-own status in banger leagues.

Sean Monahan | Columbus Blue Jackets | C | ADP: 185.0

Partly overshadowed due to injury, Monahan may have quietly put up the most unnoticed point-per-game season in 2024-25. In his first season with the Blue Jackets, the 30-year-old Monahan proved he still has plenty left in the tank, scoring 57 points (19G / 38A) in 54 games. Expected to be a fixture on the Blue Jackets’ top powerplay unit and on the top line alongside up-and-comer Kiril Marchenko, there’s no reason to believe that Monahan can’t flirt with a point-per-game pace again in 2025-26. With his current ADP seeing him drafted in the latter half of most fantasy drafts, Monahan’s potential point production is a steal in almost all formats and will allow you to punt the center-ice position early in your draft.

Jet Greaves | Columbus Blue Jackets | G | ADP: 186.0

Already the owner of arguably the coolest name in the NHL, Jet Greaves could also become one of the best late-round goalie picks in fantasy hockey. After Elvis Merzlikins stormed onto the NHL scene with three solid seasons, he has followed them up with three abysmal campaigns, creating a potential opening in the Blue Jackets’ crease. The 24-year-old Greaves nearly single-handedly carved out a path for a Blue Jackets playoff berth, posting a sensational 0.80 GAA and .975 SV% in five games to end the season (5-0-0). Merzlikins no longer has the benefit of the doubt in Columbus, and Greaves will have every opportunity to seize control of the net. Being drafted at 186.0 Greaves is a low-risk draft pick that could catapult into a number-two fantasy goaltending option on an exciting young Blue Jackets team.
