There is a whole lot to like from Tuesday's slate in the NHL. We've done our best to limit the plays to our absolute favorites, but there's a lot to like today on the ice.
We'll keep this one simple. Draisaitl has an absurd 17 goals in his last eight games against Nashville. Yes, you read that right. He has 2+ goals in seven of those games. That'll be the end of our analysis.
Marchand had two goals and four SOG on seven attempts in his debut last week against Detroit. He's back in the lineup tonight against a Pittsburgh team allowing the fourth-most shots per game, and we'll be betting on his role continuing.
In three games against the Penguins last year, Marchand averaged 5.0 SOG/game. I'm encouraged to see that two of Marchand's four shots last week were on the power play, especially with Pittsburgh handing out a decent chunk of PPs this season. They also have the fifth-worst penalty kill, so Marchand could net one when skating a man up. We'll add a half-unit wager on him scoring tonight.
.5u: Brad Marchand goal (+165 CZR)
The Islanders will face a Blackhawks team allowing 34.3 shots per game and the fourth-most power play opportunities per game.
Nelson tops New York in PP shots with ten, and he's gone over 2.5 shots in five of his last six games. With three goals in his last two games, Nelson is a good look to net one as well. We'll double-dip on his success this evening.
.5u: Brock Nelson goal (+200 CZR)
Calgary should be able to get some goals on the board tonight. They're averaging 3.4 scores per game while Seattle has surrendered 3.4 goals on average this season.
The Kraken are tight to shots in most places, but they have been vulnerable to RW shots, and in slots Toffoli.
Much more than data point is the fact that Toffoli is shooting the puck a ton. He's average 6.2 attempts per game over his last five, all of which have been at home. He has three goals this year, and he's gone two straight without a score despite how often he's shooting.
Tonight seems like a good time for that to change, and we get odds at +255 for him to do so.
I initially was hoping for Kirill Kaprizov's shots on goal, but his 3.5 line is a bit too juiced, currently floating around -140.
It's for good reason, as Kaprizov becomes an automatic shooter when skating in Minnesota. He's piled up 4+ shots in 24 of his last 30 at home, including 20 total in four home games this year.
Montreal has allowed 36 shots per game on the road this season, Kaprizov should have plenty of chances to get going tonight. We pivot to his goal at +105, as he has four total in his four home games this year and 11 in his past nine at home.
Enjoy your Tuesday of puck, there's plenty to like and take in tonight. Let's cash some bets, we'll see you back here tomorrow.
