Flames 7 game check in: ups and downs
Sergei Belski-Imagn Images

Welcome back to our series as we check in on the Calgary Flames every seven games. This will run throughout the entire 2025-26 season, as we reflect on the team’s highs and lows during that time.

Over the last seven games, the Flames have been playing better hockey lately. They’re coming off a dominant 4-1 win against the Minnesota Wild, but there are still obvious flaws with the team. Let’s check out what happened with the team this time around.

Game score recap and stats summary

Here’s a score recap for the last seven games:

November 22nd: 3-2 SOW vs DAL

November 23rd: 5-2 W @ VAN

November 26th: 5-1 L @ TBL

November 28th: 5-3 W @ FLA

November 30th: 1-0 OTL @ CAR

December 2nd: 5-1 L@ NSH

December 4th: 4-1 W vs MIN

Leading scorer: Nazem Kadri (22 points in 29 games)

Leading goalscorer: Matt Coronato (9 goals in 28 games)

Leading scorer for defenceman: Rasmus Andersson (20 points in 29 games)

The highs

The Flames came out with some unexpected wins throughout this stretch. Notching wins against teams like the Florida Panthers and, most recently, the Wild, showcases the team’s occasional ability to generate meaningful offence.

As for players, two have really stood out to me throughout these last seven games: Rasmus Andersson and Devin Cooley. Cooley has been playing some amazing hockey as of late (minus the game in Nashville), as he’s been gaining more trust from the coaching staff and has been easing the load off Dustin Wolf’s shoulders.

As for Andersson, he’s currently second on the Flames in scoring with 20 points. You gotta give credit where it’s due, as Andersson has been having a strong season so far. Being named the NHL’s first star of the week and notching 14 points in 25 games in November is certainly impressive. As he keeps playing better, his trade value is bound to increase, and the Flames certainly won’t complain about that.

The lows

While the Flames didn’t have the worst stretch, it certainly wasn’t perfect. I’d say one of the major lows is the continued struggles of certain players on the team, such as Yegor Sharangovich and Jonathan Huberdeau.

Both players have struggled mightily this season. Huberdeau is on pace for only 45 points, while Sharangovich is on pace for a measly 21 points. Both players are making substantial money this season, as the Flames have the pleasure of having two of the least efficient paid top-six forwards in the NHL. Yikes.

The road ahead

Here are the next seven games for the Flames:

December 6th: vs UTA

December 8th: vs BUF

December 10th: vs DET

December 13th: @ LAK

December 16th: @ SJS

December 18th: vs SEA

December 20th: vs VGK
