Calgary Flames netminder Devin Cooley is riding a hot streak as he's won four consecutive starts and is coming off a 26-save performance in the team's 5-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Cooley stopped 66 of 68 shots in his dominant stretch, which earned him NHL's Second Star of the Week.
He also owns a stellar .955 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average (GAA), showcasing an elite resurgence following the team's 0-5-0 rocky start this season.
Cooley has been able to catch fire, and he put a halt to overanalyzing his mechanics and positioning. All in all, by taking on a more relaxed approach, he's been able to play with more confidence. After the Flames went 1-5 to start the season, Cooley showcased his ability to step up during a rough stretch. He dealt with a ton of traffic at the net and made timely saves when the Flames offense was anemic.

The 29-year-old has also illustrated his ability to come up clutch against competitive teams such as the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.
On Oct. 18, he made 34 saves while facing 36 shots with a .944 save percentage that helped break the Hurricanes' seven-game winning streak with a critical 3-2 victory.
Overall, his increased workload and capability to anchor the Flames defense effectively have made him a noteworthy success story. By transitioning from a primary backup to Dustin Wolf to the No. 1 starting role, he's been a reliable force who has effectively anchored the team's defense.
