Flames Monitoring Trade on Offense Before Thanksgiving: Report

The Calgary Flames are not having the best start in the 2025-26 NHL season, with a record of 1-6-1, awaiting the result of their game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Ryan Huska's team lost 1-2 against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, and before that, they had lost 1-2 against the Jets.

With these poor results, the Flames place themselves in eighth and last place of the Pacific Division after eight games played and only three points.

Faced with these production difficulties, Calgary could reinforce its offense even before U.S. Thanksgiving, according to an NHL reporter.

Flames GM Craig Conroy Active on Trade Market Amid Poor Start

TSN's Pierre LeBrun wrote on Thursday about the Flames' situation, revealing that Calgary's front office would be working on reinforcing its attack very soon.

"GM Craig Conroy isn’t sitting on his hands. He is making calls and exploring the trade market, trying to find out what exactly is available out there that could potentially help his team offensively," LeBrun said.

The reporter explained that it will be a complicated task for Craig Conroy because generally, teams are not open to this type of trade so early in the season.

"Easier said than done. We’re so early in the season. Teams normally aren’t ready to engage in this type of trade activity yet, not until U.S. Thanksgiving, but certainly Calgary is trying to get an early look at what’s out there," he added.

Nazem Kadri is the player with the most points generated for the Flames so far, having given four assists, but still no goals. They are followed by Morgan Frost with one goal and two assists, Matt Coronato with two goals and one assist, and Adam Klapka with one goal and two assists.

Calgary is in 32nd place in terms of goalscoring this season, but it is not a new problem, since in the last campaign, they finished in 29th place in this category.
