The 33-year-old center, who recently celebrated his 1,000th NHL game, remains committed to Calgary, and sources indicate the team doesn’t want to deal him, and he has no desire to leave.

Kadri carries a $7 million annual contract for the next four years, which, as the NHL salary cap rises, could be considered a bargain. There is no doubt that teams would have and will make a pitch for him if he becomes available.

And, ahead of this announcement by ownership, while the Flames sit near the bottom of the standings, many wondered whether management would consider moving veteran pieces like Kadri before the trade deadline.
