The Calgary Flames have recalled right wing Adam Klapka from the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, the club announced Monday morning.

Klapka, 24, has three goals and five points in five games with the Wranglers thus far in the 2024-25 AHL regular season. The 6’8″, 235-pound winger recorded a pair of goals in the Wranglers’ 4-0 win over the Henderson Silver Knights on Sunday afternoon.

Klapka began the 2024-25 campaign on the Flames’ NHL roster, being held without a point while averaging 8:27 of ice time over five games. The Flames reassigned Klapka to the Wranglers on Oct. 30.

With veteran winger Anthony Mantha now on the club’s injured reserve list, the Flames had a hole to fill in their forward lineup. Although they brought up Dryden Hunt as a temporary reserve for the final two games of their Eastern Conference road trip, the Flames have now elected to give one of their younger call-up candidates another shot.

Klapka originally signed with the Flames in 2022 as an undrafted free agent out of the Czech Extraliga, where he racked up six goals and 18 points in 44 games as a 21-year-old with Liberec Bili Tygri HC in the 2021-22 season.

After recording 25 points in 60 games during his rookie season with the Wranglers in 2022-23, Klapka emerged as a top offensive player on the team the following year, recording 21 goals and 46 points — both team highs. He also led the club with seven points in six games during the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Flames rewarded Klapka for his strong play with his first six NHL games late in the 2023-24 season, and although he played extremely sparingly during his first cup of coffee in the show, he managed to score his first NHL goal against the San Jose Sharks in the season finale.

It remains to be seen whether Klapka will draw into the lineup on Remembrance Day Monday as the Flames take on the Los Angeles Kings at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The game will be broadcast exclusively on Amazon Prime and is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. MT.
