Flames reportedly 'want a top forward, a premium prospect and a first-round pick' for Matthew Tkachuk

The Calgary Flames are shopping Matthew Tkachuk on the trade market, but the price to acquire the All-Star winger won't be cheap.

According to reporter Ryan Pike, the Flames want a "top forward, a premium prospect and a first-round pick" in return for Tkachuk.

Tkachuk, 24, finished the 2021-22 season with 42 goals and 62 assists for a career-best 104 points. He and now-former teammate Johnny Gaudreau became the first pair of Flames players to finish with more than 100 points each in more than three decades. 

Calgary reached the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs but lost Gaudreau in free agency to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Now the Flames are set to lose Tkachuk, who reportedly told the Flames he's unwilling to sign a long-term deal with the team.

The Flames were without a first-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft and are without a third-rounder in 2023. In 2021, Calgary used the 13th overall draft pick to add winger Matthew Coronato, who is currently playing at Harvard.

The St. Louis Blues have been rumored to be interested in acquiring Tkachuk, including a report that the team could package Jordan Kyrou, Torey Krug and a first-round pick in a deal.
