Rasmus Andersson has been linked to the Ottawa Senators in recent times, but now a report has revealed they are one of the teams on his no-trade list, making a trade between the two teams impossible.
The Calgary Flames are expected to be one of the most aggressive and active teams in the NHL this off-season, and perhaps the biggest move that's expected from them has been the trade of star defenseman Rasmus Andersson.
He was also a piece potentially available at the trade deadline, and while the team decided to hang onto him at the time, the likelihood of a trade in the off-season has become much, much higher.
One team that has been heavily linked to Andersson in recent times has been the Ottawa Senators, but now, a twist in the tale has revealed that a trade is now officially impossible.
According to reports, the Senators are one of a few teams on Andersson's short no-trade list, and while there's always a chance he could waive to move to Ottawa after their Stanley Cup Playoffs success, there's likely a major reason why they were on the list to begin with.
The 28-year old is in the final year of his current deal, earning just $4.5 million a season, and it's that cheap deal that makes him a very attractive piece for a contender on the trade market, especially if the Flames decide to retain money on the final year of his contract.
At this point in time, Andersson being traded is the most likely scenario for how this plays out, but for now, we can at least cross off the Ottawa Senators as a team that could land Andersson.
