Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said Monday morning that forward Ryan Lomberg is week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

According to coach Maurice, Lomberg sustained the injury in Game 1 of the first-round matchup against the Boston Bruins. He played with the injury until doctors advised him not to continue playing. He was ruled out for the remainder of the series against the Bruins ahead of Game 5.

Lomberg had missed Games,5,6 and 7 with the injury, so the issue was known among the team. However, a timeline was not initially established, but now we know that Lomberg is week-to-week and could potentially return at some point during the second-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The undrafted forward logged 11:46 of ice time in Game 4, on pace for his average and usage for the series against the Bruins. He managed to play three games with the injury and through four playoff games, he was held pointless. Lomberg was used more as a pest against the Bruins and put up 18 penalty minutes and even got into a bit of an altercation that resulted in him choking Bruins forward Trent Frederic. Lomberg had a big season offensively, setting a career-high 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points in 82 games.

While the Panthers found themselves in a heck of a series against the Bruins that saw the series go to a dramatic game seven overtime, the Cats ultimately slayed the Bears and will now look forward to taking on the Maple Leafs. Game 1 of the second round series is slated for Tuesday, May 2 at 7:00 P.M. Eastern Time at Scotiabank Arena.
