The Philadelphia Flyers are set to face off against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night in Game 3. This is a must-win contest for the Flyers, as a loss would put them in a 3-0 series hole.
The Flyers have been without Owen Tippett for each of the first two games of their series against the Hurricanes. The 2017 first-round pick has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury.
Now, Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet has provided an update on Tippett's availability for Game 3.
While speaking to reporters, including PHLY Sport's Charlie O'Connor, Tocchet shared that Tippett will not be in the lineup again for the Flyers in Game 3.
With Tippett being one of the Flyers' best forwards, it is certainly bad news for them that he is unable to play in Game 3. This is especially so when noting that a loss in this matchup would decrease the Flyers' odds of advancing to the Eastern Conference Final immensely.
Tippett appeared in 81 regular-season games this year with the Flyers, where he had 28 goals, 23 assists, and 51 points. In six playoff games for the Flyers so far this spring, the 6-foot-1 forward has one goal, one assist, and a plus-6 rating.
Owen Tippett is unavailable for Game 3 per Tocchet. Christian Dvorak will play. Acknowledged that it depends on warmups, but "he's a warrior." So he's in.

Tippett is not the only notable Flyer who won't be in the lineup for their Game 3 contest against the Hurricanes, either. Noah Cates was recently ruled out for the remainder of the series, so the Flyers are undoubtedly entering their game shorthanded.
Nevertheless, let's see if the Flyers can steal a win against Carolina without Tippett and Cates from here.
