Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Flyers No. 1 goalie Carter Hart requested and was granted an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons, the team announced Tuesday.

The Flyers said they will have no further comment.

Hart, 25, played as recently as Saturday in a loss to the Colorado Avalanche. The 25-year-old Canadian has been the Flyers' top option in the pipes for most of his NHL career, which began in 2018-19.

In parts of six NHL seasons, Hart has a 96-93-29 record, a 2.94 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. This season, he has put up a 12-9-3 record, a 2.80 GAA and a .906 save percentage in 26 games (25 starts) in anchoring a goalie tandem with rookie Samuel Ersson.

In a corresponding move, the Flyers recalled goalie Cal Petersen from AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley and placed forward Owen Tippett on injured reserve."

Philadelphia is slated to host the Tampa Bay Lightning later Tuesday.
