Flyers’ Jamie Drysdale drops ‘excited’ reaction to Philly extension

The extension caps a breakout season for the 24-year-old, who posted career highs of eight goals and 32 points across 78 games while logging more than 21 minutes a night. Drysdale carried that form into his first career playoff run, chipping in 10 points over 10 games as the Flyers knocked off the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round before falling to the Carolina Hurricanes in the second.

Drysdale reflected on what that postseason breakthrough meant for the group moving forward.

“It was electric this year. First of all, making it into the playoffs, and then winning the first round and getting into the second round, I think it’s a good stepping stone for us,” Drysdale said. “I don’t think anyone’s content. I think with where our group’s at, everyone is in a position where you can improve. So everyone’s going to come in hungry, excited, and you got there once, I think everyone will be really hungry to reach it and surpass it.”

The deal comes on the heels of Philadelphia locking up forward Trevor Zegras to a matching four-year term just days earlier, part of a busy offseason for general manager Daniel Briere.

“We’re excited to have Jamie remain a key part of our organization for years to come,” Briere said in a statement. “Since we acquired him, Jamie has worked extremely hard and taken big steps in his development, and has established himself as a reliable piece on our back end. We believe his best hockey is still ahead of him.”

With Drysdale signed, the Flyers have now checked off nearly all of their key offseason business, leaving them well-positioned as they look to build on a surprising playoff run heading into 2026-27.
