The Flyers recalled defenseman Hunter McDonald from their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Forward Jack Studnicka and defender Helge Grans were also loaned to the Phantoms.
York, 25, suffered the injury during the team’s team’s 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Oct. 8. Through five games in 2026-27, the left-handed blueliner is averaging 21:49 of ice time.
Now in his seventh season, York, taken No. 14 overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, has 23 goals and 80 assists for 103 points in 314 career regular-season contests. He’s in the second season of a five-year contract that carries a cap hit of $5.15 million.
As for McDonald, the 24-year-old defender has spent the last two seasons with the Phantoms. Through parts of four AHL seasons, he has five goals and 25 assists for 30 points and 205 penalty minutes in 153 career regular-season games.
A sixth-round pick for the Flyers in 2022, the Fairport, N.Y., native played two seasons of college hockey at Northeastern University. In 58 career NCAA games, McDonald had two goals and 18 assists for 20 points and 88 penalty minutes.
The Flyers are 1-6-3 with five points through 10 games in 2026-27. They won their first of the season Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over the Senators, thanks to a pair of two-point performances from Matvei Michkov and Porter Martone. Trevor Zegras also potted his second of the season.
