According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Philadelphia Flyers have signed Noel Acciari to a two-year, $5.6MM ($2.8MM AAV) contract.

Acciari adds a hard-nosed veteran presence to the Flyers’ bottom six, which needed to be addressed after the Flyers traded Garnett Hathaway to the Florida Panthers back on June 25th. Acciari adds a hard-nosed veteran to a Flyers bottom six that thinned out when Philadelphia dealt Garnet Hathaway to Florida on June 25.

Known for his physicality, penalty killing, and faceoff work, Acciari gives the Flyers a valuable right-shot option down the middle, or on the wing if needed. He won better than 52 percent of his draws last season and handled heavy shorthanded minutes in Pittsburgh, the kind of defensively sound game Philadelphia values in its bottom six. Where exactly he slots in will be worth watching, as captain Sean Couturier was excellent in the fourth-line center role during the Flyers’ improbable playoff run.

Offensive production isn’t what has kept Acciari in the league heading into his 12th NHL season, but it shouldn’t be overlooked either. The former Providence Friar posted 13 goals and 25 points in 67 games in 2025-26, and a similar output in his first year in Philadelphia would be a strong depth-scoring bonus. All told, it’s a sensible piece of business for both team and player.
