Former Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno plans to sign with Wild in free agency?

It appears Nick Foligno is leaning toward playing for his third team in just two seasons.

According to Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers, the "belief" is that Foligno will sign with the Minnesota Wild this offseason, joining his brother Marcus Foligno, who has been with the team since 2017.

The former Blue Jackets captain spent much of the 2020-21 season in Columbus before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the deadline.

In 49 games last season, Foligno tallied seven goals and 13 assists, adding one assist in four playoff games. He missed Games 3, 4 and 5 of the first round against the Montreal Canadiens with a lower-body injury.

After Foligno was traded to the Maple Leafs last season, the belief was that he would re-sign with the Blue Jackets in free agency. That, of course, no longer appears to be the case.

In addition to the Blue Jackets and Maple Leafs, Foligno has also played for the Ottawa Senators, who drafted him 28th overall in 2006. In 957 career games, Foligno has tallied 203 goals and 283 assists.
