Former Islander Jordan Eberle Signs Extension With Seattle Kraken

Eberle was in the final year of his five-year contract with Seattle, one he originally signed with the New York Islanders back in 2019.

Eberle first arrived with the Islanders via a trade with the Edmonton Oilers in 2017. Across four seasons with the Islanders, Eberle amassed 169 points with 76 goals, helping the Islanders reach consecutive Stanley Cup semifinals in 2020 and 2021.

It was after that playoff run in 2021 that the Islanders left Eberle exposed in the NHL Expansion Draft, where the Kraken picked him with the 12th pick.

In three seasons with Seattle since, Eberle has accumulated 144 points with 55 goals. This season, he has totaled 37 points with 14 goals in 58 games played.

Eberle is not the only former Islander who has earned an extension with their newest team.

Defenseman Parker Wortherspoon inked a one-year deal to stick with the Boston Bruins for the price tag of $800,000 on Friday afternoon. Wotherspoon signed with Boston this past offseason after spending seven years in the Islanders organization.

Elsewhere around the league, former Islanders forward Anthony Beauvillier was shipped from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Nashville Predators on Thursday in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. It’s the second time he’s been traded this season.

After the Islanders sent Beauvillier to the Vancouver Canucks last year as part of the deal that brought Bo Horvat to Long Island, the Canucks flipped him to Chicago in a deal back in November. Now, Beauvillier is on the move once again and will be reunited with his former Islanders head coach Barry Trotz in Nashville.

As for what the Islanders themselves have done at this year’s deadline, so far, nothing.
