Four Nations Roster Announced: Sweden and Finland

There was excitement surrounding today. The NHL and NHLPA announced the rosters for the Four Nations Faceoff, which will be played in Montreal and Boston this February as International Best on Best Hockey returns. Recall the first six players for each respective nation (USA, Canada, Sweden, and Finland) in June on Day 1 of the NHL Draft.

The full Rosters for Sweden and Finland were released earlier today and can be found here. Now, let’s examine the rosters for Team USA and Canada.

When Will The Tournament Take Place?

The Four Nations Faceoff will be a mini-tournament between the United States, Canada, Sweden, and Finland. It is currently scheduled for February 12 through 20 at the Bell Centre in Montreal and TD Garden in Boston.

The Bell Centre will host four round-robin games between Canada, the United States, Sweden, and Finland, highlighted by Canada and the United States on Saturday night, February 15th. The scene will shift to Boston and T.D. Garden for a President’s Day Doubleheader is similar to how the Beanpot is run with afternoon and evening games. T.D. Garden will host the Championship Game on Thursday, February 20th.

Each team will play three tournament games in a traditional Round-Robin format under the International points system: 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime/shootout win, 1 point for a loss in overtime/shootout, and 0 points for a loss in regulation time. The two teams with the best tournament record will advance to a one-game Final.

Team Canada and Team USA rosters for the Four Nations Faceoff will be unveiled later on Wednesday.
