The Minnesota Wild had the Tampa Bay Lightning dead to rights on Tuesday night, but they wound up blowing a 3-1 lead and getting blown out of the arena in Tampa by a score of 6-3.

The backbreaking moment came on one of the oddest goals you'll ever see. Tied 3-3 with 2:53 remaining in the third period, Erik Cernak was gifted the go-ahead goal after defenseman Charle-Edouard D'Astous fired the puck off the end boards and goalie Filip Gustavsson fumbled it between his legs, giving Cernak an open net to score on.

Mats Zuccarello and Brock Faber scored in the first period to give the Wild a 2-0 lead, and Vladimir Tarasenko's goal at 9:51 of the second period made it a 3-1 game. The Lightning responded with two goals before the end of the second period to tie the game, although Minnesota can argue that it should've led 4-3 going into the third had it not been for Michael McCarron's goal being disallowed with 1:07 remaining.

You can be the judge for yourself in the replay below, but the Lightning challenged for goaltender interference, and the officials determined that Bobby Brink caused a Tampa Bay player to contact goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy before McCarron scored.

The game also featured a couple of intense fights, including McCarron delivering a nasty uppercut punch to Corey Perry.

Minnesota's Nick Foligno also left Tampa's Scott Sabourin bloodied after a lengthy fight at center ice.

At 40-20-12, the Wild have 90 points and are still five points behind Dallas for second place in the Central Division. Assuming Colorado wins the division, the Wild and Stars are locked into facing each other in the first round of the playoffs. It's merely a matter of which team will have the home-ice advantage.
