Golden Knights Announce Carter Hart News After Roster Move

The Vegas Golden Knights were forced into another roster move in net following an injury to goaltender Carter Hart on Thursday.

Hart left the game in the first period against the Columbus Blue Jackets after going down in a crease collision on the opening goal by Boone Jenner. The starting goalie was helped off the ice and did not return to the game.

Less than 24 hours later, Vegas recalled Carl Lindbom from AHL Henderson, and on Saturday, head coach Bruce Cassidy addressed Hart’s status.

“Lower body, week-to-week, [we ’ll] see how that goes,” Cassidy said before the team’s game against the St. Louis Blues.

Cassidy remarked after the game on Thursday that the way Hart exited the ice “didn’t look good,” hinting at a worse outlook than the final one.

Hart has posted a 5–3–3 record since joining Vegas, but his form has dipped in recent weeks. Over his last five starts, Hart recorded an .802 save percentage and allowed 18 goals for a 3.6 goals-against average.

The Golden Knights signed Hart in October to a two-year, $4 million contract after the NHL reinstated him.

Hart's absence leaves Vegas in a precarious position in net, as star goalie Adin Hill has resumed practicing but remains unavailable. Until then, backups Akira Schmid and Lindbom will shoulder the load.

Lindbom has started seven games with Vegas this season, going 1–4–2 with a .870 save percentage, and owns a 6–3–4 record in the AHL with a .926 mark.

Schmid stopped 17 shots in Saturday’s 4–2 win over St. Louis, extending the team’s win streak to three games. The Golden Knights will visit the San Jose Sharks on Sunday, with puck drop set for 10:00 p.m. ET.
