Golden Knights Make Several Roster Moves

The Vegas Golden Knights will look mildly different against the St. Louis Blues tomorrow evening. According to a team announcement, the Golden Knights recalled forward Alexander Holtz from the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights.

Vegas’ transactions didn’t end there. PuckPedia also announced that the Golden Knights have placed defenseman Lukas Cormier on waivers. Cormier began the season on Vegas’ non-roster/injured list after undergoing an undisclosed procedure this past offseason. If he clears, Cormier will begin his season with AHL Henderson.

The 24-year-old blue liner returned to the Golden Knights last summer on a one-year, $850K contract. He’s coming off an impressive AHL campaign, scoring eight goals and 47 points in 49 games with a +2 rating. Still, he has not played in an NHL contest since the 2023-24 season.

Meanwhile, according to Jason R. Pothier and Ken Boehlke of SinBin, Vegas has moved defenseman Parker Wotherspoon to the injured reserve. Acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins last offseason, Wotherspoon has not played since October 10th due to an upper-body injury. Wotherspoon was given a week-to-week recovery timeline.

Unfortunately, in the games he has played, Wotherspoon hasn’t been effective with his new club. He’s gone scoreless in six games with a -6 rating, averaging 18:16 of ice time per game. He has also produced an 82.1% on-ice SV% at even strength, the second-lowest on the team.

Holtz, 24, began the 2026-27 campaign with AHL Henderson after clearing waivers in September. He has been red-hot in his brief AHL stint, scoring four goals and eight points in five games. Throughout his career, Holtz has consistently performed well in the AHL while having moderate success in the NHL. Still, the Golden Knights could find him ample opportunity to produce if they pull Raphael Lavoie or Marc Gatcomb from the lineup.

Given that tomorrow night’s game is in St. Louis, another transaction is likely on the horizon for the Golden Knights. Unless they make another roster move, Vegas will have only six healthy defensemen rostered. If Cormier clears waivers, the Golden Knights will likely recall Ville Heinola, as they have done multiple times recently, to serve as an extra defenseman.
