Much like the Detroit Red Wings , the Las Vegas Golden Knights named a team captain on Wednesday before the 2020-21 season.
Las Vegas announced that Mark Stone will be the first captain in franchise history.

The 28-year-old is entering his third season with the Golden Knights after coming over in a trade from the Ottawa Senators in 2019. In two seasons with Vegas, Stone has 74 points (26 goals, 48 assists) in 83 regular-season games. He also has 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) in 27 playoff games.
Stone signed an eight-year, $76 million contract with the Golden Knights in 2019. The Senators selected him in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Draft.
