According to a team announcement, the Vegas Golden Knights have recalled forward Jonas Røndbjerg from the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights. In a corresponding roster move, the Golden Knights reassigned forward Alexander Holtz.
Røndbjerg, 27, has been a frequent call-up by the Golden Knights for the past few years, particularly when the team runs into injury trouble. With winger Victor Olofsson out for the foreseeable future with an upper-body injury, Vegas has had to lean on its forward depth.
Still, the Golden Knights haven’t yet used Røndbjerg this season. His most recent NHL playing time came last season, when he registered one assist in four games for Vegas while averaging 12:05 of ice time per game. Throughout his career, Røndbjerg has scored three goals and 11 points in 80 games, all with the Golden Knights.
The Rungsted, Denmark, native has understandably performed better with AHL Henderson. A reliable tertiary scorer, Røndbjerg has registered 65 goals and 147 points in 283 AHL contests with a +15 rating. This season, Røndbjerg has tallied two assists in seven games. Despite the call-up, Røndbjerg is unlikely to play unless the Golden Knights sustain another forward injury.
Meanwhile, Holtz returns to the AHL after two games with Vegas. Filling in for Mitch Marner, who was out for the birth of his child, Holtz registered one assist in two games with a -1 rating, averaging 11:47 of ice time per game. He’ll look to continue his torrid start with AHL Henderson, where he scored four goals and eight points in five games.
