Golden Knights Send Two-Word Reminder to Oilers After Game 3

The Vegas Golden Knights stunned the Edmonton Oilers with a 4-3 victory in Game 3, capped by Reilly Smith’s game-winner with just 0.4 seconds left on the clock.

It wasn’t just the goal that lit up social media—it was what came after from the very own Vegas headquarters as the PR team of the Golden Knights dropped a savage message on the franchise's socials.

On Saturday night, after the game was over and the victory in the pocket, the Golden Knights’ official X account posted a simple, two-word message as a reminder of what had just happened.

“0.4 seconds.”

The message, devoid of context or imagery, was a direct and ruthless reference to the exact moment Vegas stole the win at the very end of regulation.

The Oilers were a split second away from going to overtime with a 2-0 series lead and the possibility of making it 3-0 and pretty much wrapping up the seven-game series early.

Instead, Edmonton now leads the second-round series 2-1 and faces a hungry Vegas team again Monday night, with the lone positive of playing the Golden Knights in the Oilers' arena before the series returns to Vegas.

Smith, the hero of the night, explained how the play came together.

“Honestly, I’ve seen (William Karlsson) use that play a few times where he forechecks and spins it out in front of the net,” Smith said. “Jumping out from the bench, I think there was about seven seconds, and I just tried to get there as fast as possible.

“'Karl’ does a good job of hunting pucks and being the first on it, and once it popped out, I saw a lot of guys sell out, so I just hoped I had enough time to kind of pump fake and find a line, and it worked out.

“I think if I try to shoot that, it’s getting stopped, if not by the first guy or the second guy or the goalie. Sometimes you just hope for the best, and that one seemed to work out, thankfully I had enough time.”

Game 4 is scheduled for Monday inside Rogers Place with puck drop set at 9:30 p.m. ET.
