A major announcement has dropped for many employees of Groupe CH and the Bell Centre.

As reported by the Journal de Montréal and TVA Sports, 159 suite employees at the Bell Centre have been laid off.

This is being described as a massive wave of layoffs.

Shockwave for many employees of Groupe CH and the Bell Centre

As reported by Québecor's outlets, just weeks before the NHL playoffs, 159 hosts and hostesses working in the corporate suites at the Bell Centre have been let go.

'We have decided to reorganize our operations.

Suite owners will now be able to hire their own staff, but we will no longer be offering that service.'

France Margaret Bélanger, President of Sports and Entertainment for Groupe CH, via the Journal de Montréal.

You can imagine this sparked a strong reaction.

Many clients fear this will negatively affect their experience in the suites during Bell Centre games.

Having had the chance to enjoy the service of these hosts and hostesses on several occasions, I can say they were excellent and truly added value to the customer experience at the Bell Centre, at least in my experience.

These employees were informed of the news just before the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators, so you can guess they didn't enjoy the game as much as the rest of us.

In any case, we wish them the best of luck moving forward.

Quietly, they've just lost a great job that they loved and judging by the various testimonies, they clearly didn't see it coming.
