Habs Game 82: Prospect Logan Mailloux To Make NHL Debut
Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Montreal Canadiens (30-36-15) are set to face the Detroit Red Wings (40-32-9) in the final game at the Bell Centre this season. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET.

The Habs may have dropped their penultimate game on Monday, but the story of the night was Lane Hutson’s NHL debut. He was far from perfect, which was to be expected, however, his offensive impact quickly came to the forefront.

It took Hutson exactly two shifts to earn his first NHL assist.

Once he has time to study the playbook and adapt to his new settings we will take a closer look at his overall play, but for now, it must be said that he enjoyed a good start to what is expected to be a long NHL career.

As for other prospects who are hoping to earn a permanent role with the Canadiens, defenceman Logan Mailloux was recalled from the Laval Rocket immediately following Monday’s overtime loss.

He is expected to make his NHL debut on Tuesday, an opportunity that will serve as a reward for his strong rookie season in the AHL.

As for the Red Wings, it’s a fairly straightforward situation.

They have to beat the Habs to qualify for the playoffs.

Even though they managed to win Monday’s game, they can’t afford to have another poor start against a team that only has Draft Lottery odds left to play for.

The Red Wings looked lost for a significant portion of the game, to the point that the lowly Canadiens managed to produce nine high-danger chances at 5v5 while Deroit only generated four.

Lucas Raymond is expected to drive the offence for Detroit, while players like J.T. Compher and Alex DeBrincat supplement the Red Wings offence by spending as much time as possible deep in the Canadiens’ zone.
