Harley Scores 2, Including OT Winner in Stars’ 3-2 Victory Over Flyers

The Dallas Stars (43-21-4) beat the Philadelphia Flyers (28-34-8) 3-2 in overtime on Saturday afternoon, thanks to three goals from defensemen, including one in regulation and one in OT from Thomas Harley. Esa Lindell scored the other goal for Dallas, while Jake Oettinger made 22 saves.

Travis Konecny and Ryan Poehling scored for the Flyers. Ivan Fedotov started the game for the Flyers, allowing two goals on three shots. Samuel Errson played great in relief, making 15 saves on 16 shots.

Game Recap

The Stars got to work early with two goals in the first nine minutes of the contest. Harley kicked it off at 6:37 with a snapshot from the high slot.

Lindell made it a 2-0 lead at 8:59. The Stars D-man jumped into the rush and snapped home a pass from Mikael Granlund in the high slot for his 5th goal of the season.

Konecny cut the lead to 2-1 at 13:03 of the second period with a shot from the right circle, which beat Oettinger blocker-side.

With 72 seconds left in the period, Poehling beat Oettinger just beneath the crossbar on a breakaway, dragging the Stars netminder to the right before lifting the puck over the left shoulder of Oettinger.

A scoreless final 20 minutes brought the game to overtime for the fourth straight game for the Stars. After the opening faceoff went down to the Flyers goal-line, Jason Robertson won a brief puck battle and backhanded a pass to Harley, who put a backhand through Ersson’s five-hole for his second of the night and the overtime winner.

The Flyers outshot the Stars 24-19, and went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Stars went 0-4 with the man advantage.
