How confident should the New York Rangers be in Shesterkin, Quick?
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton stopped by Daily Faceoff Live to discuss the New York Rangers crease and how confident the Rangers should be in goaltenders Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick.

Frank Seravalli: Carter when you look at the New York Rangers recently a team that has begun to slide over the last month, they rank 31st in save percentage in the NHL and this has not been a great year for Igor Shesterkin who coming into the year everyone kind of included him that elite goaltender realm. What’s happened and how much concern do you have for this Rangers tandem? Quick has been great and it’s been one of the best stories all year but can he carry them all the way?

Carter Hutton: No I don’t believe so. For Quick, the transition into New York has been great but for Shesterkin, I find him and these younger guys like Ilya Sorokin who focus so much on fitness and the regiment they bring to the game and now when it starts to snowball it is hard to catch up. Again, a guy who is questionable to go to the All-Star Game, would that time be more beneficial to get back into order?

Carter Hutton: I don’t think Quick carries you into the playoffs but I have confidence in Sheseterkin to find his game and that division is tough and wherever they meet for a seven-game series they’re going to need Shesterkin to be at his best but what I’m worried is with these games piling up will he ever catch a break and find his game.
