The Buffalo Sabres earned another win Tuesday night, this time in a 3-2 effort over the Vegas Golden Knights thanks to goals from Tage Thompson, Owen Power and Jason Zucker.
The Sabres are now 36-19-6, two points back of the Tampa Bay Lightning for first in the Atlantic Division. With the trade deadline in two days, reports are suggesting Buffalo could be one of the most aggressive teams in the league.
On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discuss the Sabres’ winning ways and how aggressive they could be in acquiring the biggest names on the NHL trade market.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Darren Dreger got things going on Tuesday by saying the Blues and Sabres were working their way down the line on a potential Robert Thomas deal. It sounded like, from reading the various reports from insiders that a trade was getting close and Buffalo was going to be the team that scooped up the best player on the trade market.
GM’s are describing the NHL landscape as a “buyers market”. Tons of players in play. Keep an eye on the Buffalo Sabres. Sources say talks between Buffalo and St Louis involving Robert Thomas are heating up.

But four hours ago, Dreger reported that St. Louis and Buffalo went the distance on the Thomas trade talks, but it sounds like the Sabres aren’t willing to part with the necessary pieces, prospects, first-round picks, etc. Still, there’s teams nibbling, but teams are firm about what the return needs to be.
Update: It’s believed St Louis/Buffalo went the distance on Thomas trade talks. Sounds like the Sabres aren’t willing to part with the necessary pieces. (Prospects, Player, 1st). Still teams nibbling, but the Blues are firm in what the return needs to be for the young center.

What do you make of the Sabres going down the line and almost making a big splash for Robert Thomas?
Carter Hutton : I love it, I absolutely love it. I think on the heels of a big win Tuesday night where they honored Tage Thompson, they cheer on Jack Eichel and Noah Hanafin, then they go on to beat Jack Eichel. The fact the crowd chanted “Robert Thomas” last night goes to show you where the Sabres faithful is at.
This is a team that loves the momentum and in an Eastern Conference that’s open, you never know.
