The reigning champions United States are coming off a 6-0 victory over Czechia on Friday night. Team USA got a hat trick from Alex Carpenter, two goals from Laila Edwards, and one from Taylor Heise.
In the first matchday, USA beat Switzerland by a score of 4-0. The Americans are atop Group A, sharing the zone with Canada, Czechia, Switzerland, and Finland. Today, they will aim to secure their third consecutive win.
On the other side, the Finland national team suffered a 4-1 defeat against Canada, marking their second consecutive loss in the tournament. Petra Nieminen scored the only goal for the Finnish side.
The USA team is on the journey to win their eleventh IIHF Women’s World Championship. They have made it to the gold-medal game in all 22 editions, winning the gold in six of the last eight tournaments (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023).
