Team USA continues its perfect run in the tournament, having finished the group stage with a record of four wins and no losses. In their last match, the Americans defeated Canada 1-0 in overtime with a goal from Kirsten Simms. Now, they are focused on beating Japan and reaching the semifinals.

The reigning champions United States only conceded goals in the 5-3 victory against Finland, ending with a clean sheet in three out of the four matches they played.
