Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour offered a grim update on forward Seth Jarvis following Thursday night’s 6–2 win over the New York Islanders . Jarvis left late in the third period after blocking a hard shot from Kyle Palmieri with his left ankle.
“That doesn’t look great, I’ve got to be honest,” Brind’Amour said postgame. “We’ll know more tomorrow, but he’s not feeling great at this moment. It doesn’t look good.”
More details are expected on Friday once Jarvis undergoes further evaluation.

Jarvis, who has been one of the Hurricanes’ most consistent performers this season, has registered 11 points (7 goals and 4 assists) in 10 games, including four game-winning goals. Losing him for any extended stretch would be a significant setback for Carolina, which has already battled through several injuries early in the campaign.
Despite the concerning injury, the Hurricanes managed to secure a dominant win against the Islanders at the Lenovo Center. Bradly Nadeau scored his first NHL goal early, followed by Mike Reilly’s short-handed tally and Jordan Martinook’s rebound goal.
Matthew Schaefer scored for the Islanders to make it 3–1. And in the third period Islanders scored three more goals, showing their offensive production.
Brind’Amour praised the team for the good effort.
“I thought tonight was a good effort, and there were some real good energy plays and individual plays that got us some goals,” Brind’Amour said. “I liked the way we played in the third [period].”
Jackson Blake scored the fourth goal for the Hurricanes, and the Islanders' second goal was scored by Simon Holmstrom. But Andrei Svechnikov restored Carolina’s three-goal lead. And finally, Logan Stankoven added a late goal to seal the win.
