Defenseman Jalen Chatfield scored a goal to snap a tie late in the second period, lifting the Carolina Hurricanes to a 5-2 victory over the reeling Anaheim Ducks on Thursday in Raleigh, N.C.

Logan Stankoven, Taylor Hall and Chatfield each collected a goal and an assist and Mark Jankowski and Jackson Blake also tallied for the Hurricanes, who have won three in a row.

Carolina's Frederik Andersen made 11 saves to record his first win since Nov. 6.

Ryan Poehling and Mikael Granlund each scored a goal for the Ducks, who have lost eight in a row (0-7-1).

Anaheim's Ville Husso turned aside 30 shots in his first game since being called up from AHL affiliate San Diego.

Playing in his 300th career NHL game, Chatfield unleashed a shot from just inside the top of the left circle that sailed past Husso to give Carolina a 3-2 lead. The goal was Chatfield's first of the season.

Blake converted a loose puck after Alexander Nikishin's shot was blocked to double the advantage midway into the third period. Hall capped the scoring by finding the empty net with 2:49 to play.

A pretty passing sequence led to Anaheim opening the scoring with 6:42 remaining in the first period.

Chris Kreider's diagonal pass connected with Jackson LaCombe, who immediately fed the puck to an unmarked Poehling for an easy conversion.

Jankowski skated along the goal line before tucking the puck past Husso to forge a tie at 8:56 of the second period. The goal was his third of the season.

After failing to cash in at the left doorstep, Granlund made no mistake on his second attempt moments later. He redirected Mason McTavish's feed into the net with 7:56 remaining in the second period for his eighth goal of the season.

Stankoven tapped home Hall's offering just more than two minutes later to level the contest at 2-2.
