Entering Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final, the Carolina Hurricanes were in a tough situation. Carolina hadn't won a single game in the conference final in their last 15 tries, and they were on the road facing the defending champions.

But the Hurricanes were able to break the long losing streak, and earned their first win in the conference final since June 1, 2006. The shutout win was a total team effort, and Game 5 will now be played back in front of their home fans.

After the game, the Hurricanes' social media account sent out a simple message to fans following the massive win.

For the Carolina fans, the win must have felt like a weight lifted after all the losing in this conference final round. But for the team as well, they seem happy that it is no longer an ongoing narrative.

"It's nice to not have to talk about that," said Brind'Amour, the Hurricanes coach.

Now, as the team gets ready for Game 5, they finally have this win behind them. Carolina can now play free and maybe get fully back into this playoff series.

The Hurricanes were one of the best teams in the NHL at home this season, and they will try to use that to their advantage. Hurricanes star Sebastian Aho weighed in on the game after the fact.

"This effort," Aho said, "we showed them, but for sure ourselves, if we keep playing like that we're going to give ourselves a chance to win any given day in this League."

Game 5 will be played on Wednesday, May 28, at 8 p.m. ET.
