According to the AHL transactions log, the Carolina Hurricanes are expected to recall forward Bradly Nadeau from the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. The Hurricanes haven’t confirmed the recall yet.
Unfortunately, Nadeau’s expected recall is because of an injury to another middle-six forward in Carolina. Yesterday morning, it was announced that Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal would miss the next one to two months with a partially torn calf. Later that evening, during their game against the Washington Capitals, Carolina said Taylor Hall left the contest with an upper-body injury.
Although the Hurricanes are understandably waiting to evaluate Hall before giving a firm recovery timeline, the early prognosis doesn’t look great. When asked about Hall’s status, head coach Rod Brind’Amour told Joe Smith of The Athletic, “it doesn’t look good.”
Regardless, injuries always carry a bittersweetness. With Hall likely out of the lineup for the foreseeable future, an opportunity has arisen for arguably Carolina’s best forward prospect.
Nadeau, 21, has been waiting for an opportunity for some time. Unfortunately, because of Carolina’s depth, he hasn’t been able to force his way onto the roster for very long. Still, if he can be anything like the player he has been in the AHL, Nadeau should have staying power.
The former first-round pick immediately turned pro after a phenomenal season at the University of Maine in 2023-24. Since then, in three years with the Wolves, Nadeau has scored 60 goals and 115 points in 120 games with a -10 rating, with another seven goals and 17 points in 23 postseason contests. Throughout his NHL career, he has primarily played in the bottom six, with a career scoring line of three goals and an assist in 15 games and 23 hits.
