Igor Shesterkin Leaves Game Against Mammoth

The New York Rangers are facing the Utah Mammoth tonight. The Rangers entered tonight off a 5-1 win over the defending champion Florida Panthers. The Mammoth came into this game off a 4-1 loss to the Devils. In the first period, seven minutes into the game, Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin sustained an injury. Shesterkin left the ice under aid. He appeared unable to put weight on his left leg. JJ Peterka entered into the crease but appeared as if he tried to stop and didn’t make much, if any, collision at all with Shesterkin. The play did not appear to involve contact with the left leg, the area where Shesterkin suffered his injury. It was not a good sign for the Rangers’ goaltender.

It was confirmed by the Rangers PR that Shesterkin would not return to the game, and Jonathan Quick will have the rest of the game in for New York. Shesterkin has made 33 starts entering tonight with a 17-12-4 record with a .912 save percentage, a 2.47 goals-against average, and a shutout.
