Interesting player has just been placed on waivers, and the Canadiens have priority to claim

We have some action on the National Hockey League waiver wire this Tuesday.

We're continuing to monitor this closely, especially knowing that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens still have high priority to claim players, thanks to their position in the overall standings.

On Tuesday, it's the Boston Bruins who are placing a player on waivers.

Alec Regula placed on NHL waivers

If the Canadiens are interested, they will be among the top five in claiming rights.

Regula, only 24 years old, is a 6-foot-4, 211-pound right-handed defenseman who was drafted 67th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings (third round).

He's a right-handed defenseman, which is key here!

Regula has 22 games of NHL experience and has been fairly productive in the American Hockey League so far:

  • 26 points in 55 games in 2024
  • 21 points in 51 games in 2023
  • 26 points in 41 games in 2022

He was traded from the Blackhawks to the Boston Bruins in the Taylor Hall deal.

We'll know by Wednesday afternoon whether he was claimed off waivers, but considering he's a right-handed defenseman with intriguing potential, don't be surprised if he is.

Further details will follow in the coming hours on this matter.
