Center Calum Ritchie and winger Matias Maccelli each left Saturday’s 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs with lower-body injuries. The Islanders confirmed that neither player would return to the game.

The Oakville, Ontario native had a goal and assist for two points in seven games coming into Saturday’s action. Last season, Ritchie put up 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 65 games for New York.
Selected 27th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Islanders acquired Ritchie, along with defenseman Oliver Kylington and a two draft picks, from Colorado in exchange for forwards Brock Nelson and William Dufour in March of 2025.
Maccelli, 26, suffered his injury in the second period when a poke check attempt from Toronto defenseman Darren Raddysh caught him in the left skate, causing him to fall awkwardly to the ice.

New York signed Maccelli as an unrestricted free agent to a one-year, $2.25 million deal this past offseason. He spent last season with the Leafs, where he registered 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points in 71 games.
Selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Maccelli’s career-best season came in 2023-24 with Coyotes, when he notched 17 goals and 40 assists for 57 points in 82 games.
After Saturday’s win in Toronto, the Islanders begin a two-game homestand against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
