On the eve of their rookie development camp, the New York Islanders signed 19-year-old defenseman Isaiah George to a three-year entry-level contract, per an announcement by the team.

The Islanders selected George with the 98th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and spent last season playing for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.

In 54 games in London last year, George recorded 22 points with seven goals, helping the Knights reach the OHL Finals, where they lost to the Peterborough Petes in six games.

The native of Oakville, Ontario, will begin his professional career this season with the Islanders’s AHL affiliate in Bridgeport, playing for the team’s new head coach Rick Kowalsky.

George and many of the Islanders’s prospects will take the ice tomorrow at Northwell Health Ice Center as the organization opens its rookie development camp.
