The second day of the waiver wire was just as busy as the first, as eight players have been placed on waivers on Friday for the purpose of being reassigned to the AHL.

The following players were placed on waivers:

Ivan Fedotov, G, Columbus Blue Jackets
Liam Foudy, F, New York Islanders
Julien Gauthier, F, New York Islanders
Cole McWard, D, New York Islanders
Travis Mitchell, D, New York Islanders
Kevin Connauton, D, Utah Mammoth
Calle Rosen, D, Washington Capitals
Spencer Smallman, F, Washington Capitals

Fedotov highlights the list, having spent the entirety of last season in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers. He struggled significantly though, as he had just a 6-13-4 record, an .880 save percentage and a -10.69 5v5 goals saved above expected in 26 games.

Fedotov was traded to the Blue Jackets earlier in September, although it was largely expected that he would be behind both Jet Greaves and Elvis Merzlikins on the depth chart. He has one year remaining on a two-year deal with a $3.275 million cap hit.

Foudy is the other notable name on the wire, as he has the pedigree of being the 2018 18th-overall pick of the Blue Jackets. That said, he has struggled to live up to where he was drafted, and he spent a majority of last season in the AHL with the Bridgeport Islanders, garnering 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points in 70 games. He did play two games with New York in 2024-25, going pointless in both games.

Gauthier is the only other player on the list to play in the NHL last season, as the former 2016 21st-overall pick played one game with the Islanders, with no points in that game. He also had three goals and five assists for eight points in only nine AHL games with Bridgeport, as he dealt with an injury that kept him out for most of the 2024-25 season.

All seven players who were placed on waivers on Thursday cleared, including Mammoth goaltender Connor Ingram.
