During last night's Ducks-Blues game, Jacob Trouba delivered a brutal hit on Jordan Kyrou, which led to Brayden Schenn stepping in and dropping the gloves.
Anaheim Ducks defender Jacob Trouba found himself in hot water again on Sunday night after a questionable hit on St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou.
Trouba unleashed a high hit near the blue line, launching himself into Kyrou's head with an extended arm and elbow. Kyrou dropped immediately, clutching his head, and that brought about an immediate response from Blues captain Brayden Schenn.
Schenn, fresh off a pregame ceremony for his 1000th NHL game, wasted no time dropping the gloves with Trouba.
While Schenn was the one who initiated the fight, it was Trouba who came out on top, landing several hard right hands that sent Schenn down to the ice.
Both players received fighting majors, with Schenn also taking a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Despite losing the fight, Schenn and the Blues had the final laugh, cruising to a 7-2 victory. He even opened the scoring just 41 seconds into the game. Kyrou, for his part, shrugged off the hit to tally three assists in the win.
The victory moved St. Louis into 73 points, which tied Vancouver for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, but the Canucks have a game in hand.
Anaheim, at 65 points, remained in sixth in the Pacific Division and is eight points out of a playoff spot.
