Jakub Dobes' harsh comments on after first loss cause stir

We saw it with the young defenseman of the Montreal Canadiens, Lane Hutson, and now we're seeing it with Jakub Dobes. These are athletes who are very critical of themselves.

In an interview on RDS Saturday night, after the 4-3 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils, goaltender Jakub Dobes was indeed very hard on himself.

Despite the fact that he is probably the sole reason the Canadiens were able to collect a valuable point, he was still very critical of himself.

Jakub Dobes is tough on himself

Here's an excerpt from one of his statements on RDS last.

"I wasn't really happy with my first period.

I didn't like my level of competition on the first (goal).

On the second, I didn't really like my body language..

After the first period, I told myself that I had to get going.

I'm proud that we responded and I had a better second and third period after all."

"It wasn't a perfect game.

For the next one, I need to play 60 full minutes to deserve to win."

While it's not difficult to necessarily agree with him, the case can be made that he deserved to win Saturday's game. Let's just say it bodes well for his next start.

At 23 years old, Dobes now holds a 5-0-1 record in the National Hockey League, with a goals-against average of 1.93 and a save percentage of .933.
