Jakub Vrana signs three-year, $15.75 million deal with Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings acquired winger Jakub Vrana ahead of the trade deadline in April and have now locked the 25-year-old down on a new agreement that allowed the parties to avoid a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

According to The Athletic, Vrana and the Red Wings have agreed to a three-year contract that is worth $15.75 million and that carries an annual average value of $5.25 million. The Athletic's Max Bultman noted Vrana was previously on a deal with a $3.35 million AAV.

In total, Vrana recorded 19 goals and 17 assists while playing for the Washington Capitals and, later, the Red Wings during the 2020-21 NHL season. Following the trade to Detroit, he notched eight goals and three assists across 11 games.

The Associated Press (h/t ESPN) added Vrana scored three game-winning goals with Detroit. He was part of the Capitals team that won the Stanley Cup in 2018.

In 295 career NHL regular-season contests, the first-round pick from the 2014 draft has accumulated 84 goals and 84 assists over five campaigns.
