It looks as though the fate of longtime Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn has been announced following the latest report from NHL analyst Andy Strickland, who says he'll be back next season.

Not long after the Dallas Stars were eliminated in the WCF by the Edmonton Oilers, speculation began to build about the future of several of the club's pending UFA's.

In addition to the likes of Matt Duchene and Mikael Granlund, longtime captain Jamie Benn is also up for a new contract.

It looks as though he'll be getting another one from Stars general manager Jim Nill before long, per the latest report from NHL analyst Andy Strickland.

During their locker room cleanup day, Benn said that playing for the Stars is the only thing that he knows in his NHL career and hoped it could continue.

I don't see myself going anywhere else. This is all I know. Hopefully we can figure something out.

Benn, who at times played on the 4th line for the Stars this year and saw a drop in his production, especially during the postseason in which he scored only a single goal, admitted that there were difficulties but that it was his job to do the best he could.

It was different at times, difficult at times. The playoffs are all about team-first and making sacrifices and doing what is best for the team. As my role changed a little bit, that was my mindset is that this is what was best for the team. It was my job to go out there and do my job the best that I could.

Benn had 49 points (16G, 33A) in 80 games with the Stars, his 16th with the team.
