Jeff Marek was a beloved Sportsnet broadcaster who was subsequently fired for allegedly feeding NHL draft information to a scout online.
Overall, Marek's firing has upset a whole lot of fans. Marek was someone that the vast majority of Canadian NHL fans adored. Moreover, he was a great co-host for Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast. Since his firing, however, he has mostly been radio silent. Throughout this time, fans have been wondering about him and his well-being.
Well, today, Marek returned to the sports reporting world with a huge scoop. Ultimately, this is something that we reported just a few hours ago, thanks to Marek. However, his return to hockey reporting is news in and of itself.
Of course, the scoop in question was that San Jose Sharks first-round pick Quentin Musty has requested a trade from his OHL team, the Sudbury Wolves. It seems like for the time being, Marek is focusing on junior hockey, which is certainly an interesting development. Hopefully, he lands on his feet with a concrete gig sometime soon.
We wish Marek the best of luck moving forward. He is someone that we root for, no matter what he has going on. One has to wonder what might be next for him as the Sportsnet firing was high profile. Media jobs are hard to come by, but he is talented and we're sure someone would want him.
