Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins finally came to terms on a contract worth $66 million over eight years, which means he is now with the team.
Swayman was hoping to play in the season opener against the Florida Panthers, however, it was not meant to be. Instead, Joonas Korpisalo got the start and he was not good. He allowed six goals in that game and ultimately, it was not a phenomenal game for any of the Bruins involved. The final score was 6-4 and Bruins fans have been pining for Swayman ever since.
Well, today, the Bruins offered up some good news regarding Swayman. He will be getting the start tonight as the Bruins play their home opener against their arch-rivals, the Montreal Canadiens.
The Canadiens are off to a strong start as they won their first game of the season by a score of 1-0 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, they played last night and are now traveling to Boston. Simply put, the team is going to be tired heading into this tilt, which gives the Bruins a huge advantage.
The favorites to win the game are the Bruins and that is a given. They have the offense, the rest, and now, the goaltender. While the Canadiens might be better than they were last season, it just seems more likely that Boston will have all of the advantages here.
