The Winnipeg Jets are getting ready for Game 6 of their second-round playoff series with the Dallas Stars. After staving off elimination in Game 5, the Jets will be looking to do it once again on the road.

However, it seems that Winnipeg could be without star Mark Scheifele for the game. Scheifele received some tragic news ahead of the contest, and could be forced to miss.

Scheifele's dad, Brad, has passed away, so the status of the Jets star remains uncertain. Jets head coach Scott Arniel spent time with his star at the team hotel after the news came out.

Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff gave an update on the status of Scheifele for the game.

"He's going to talk with Mark and spend some time with him, and we'll go from there," Cheveldayoff said.

This is certainly bigger than hockey, and Scheifele may need to be with his family after this. We all wish him and his family our deepest condolences for this tragic loss.

"As an organization, we're doing everything we can to support him and give his family our most sincere condolences," Cheveldayoff said. "… We're a family, and we're going to do everything we can to support our family."

Scheifele has scored two goals and two assists in this series against the Stars. The Jets would miss his presence on the ice, but unfortunately, things like this take place at unexpected times.

Game 6 between these two teams is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 17, at 8 p.m. ET.
