The Winnipeg Jets announced Monday they have placed defenseman Colin Miller on injured reserve. In a corresponding move, they have recalled defenseman Isaak Phillips from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose.

Miller, 33, left Sunday’s 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils with a lower-body injury after getting checked into the boards by New Jersey’s Arseny Gritsyuk.

The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native has just an assist in 15 games played for Winnipeg this season, as he has been a frequent healthy scratch. Last season for the Jets, he had four goals and 11 assists for 15 points in 60 games.

Winnipeg acquired Miller in March of 2024 from New Jersey in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. After playing just six games (five regular season, one postseason) for the Jets to finish up the 2023-24 season, he signed a two-year, $3 million deal to remain in Winnipeg. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Miller was initially selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to reaching the NHL level, he was traded to the Boston Bruins in 2015 as part of the package sent in exchange for forward Milan Lucic. After 103 games over two seasons with the Bruins, he was taken by the Vegas Golden Knights in their 2017 Expansion Draft. After two seasons with Vegas, he would go on to play three with the Buffalo Sabres and one with the Dallas Stars before getting traded to New Jersey ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Phillips, 24, has yet to play for the Jets after he was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in January of 2025. He has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 33 games for the Moose this season.
