Joe Pavelski will be sticking around in Dallas.

The Stars have inked the veteran forward to a one-year contract extension worth $5.5 million annually. The deal also features $500K in performance bonuses that Pavelski can earn by reaching 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 games played.

After spending the first 13 seasons of his career with the San Jose Sharks, Pavelski signed a three-year, $21 million deal with the Stars in free agency back in 2019.

In those three seasons, Pavelski has 61 goals and 141 points over the course of 179 games. He also scored 19 points in 27 playoff games when the Stars reached the Stanley Cup Final back in 2020.

Though he turns 38 years old in July, Pavelski is in the midst of the most productive season of his career. He has 59 points in 56 games, putting him on pace to break his career-high of 79 points set back with the Sharks in 2013-14.

Pavelski has two major milestones on his radar: 500 goals and 1,000 points. He’s currently at 416 goals for his career and 902 points.

The Stars have a pair of young players who are in need of new deals this offseason. Jason Robertson and Jake Oettinger are reaching the end of their respective entry-level deals and could be in line for big, long-term contracts.
